Double bassist, vocalist, composer and arranger Blake Shaw brings a wide variety of inspiration to the table. Being an ambitious and hungry bassist has helped him gain a plethora of experience in many genres of music. In his own project, The Blake Shaw Quintet, he not only showcases his original compositions but adds a mix of jazz influenced arrangements that take swing music to the next level. A few pop and rock artists Shaw likes to borrow tunes from include The Animals, Nirvana and Melissa Etheridge. He’s also heavily influenced by singers like Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughn, Kurt Elling and Gregory Porter, to name a few. Mixing all these great artists is no easy task but is something he truly gets a kick out of.
